Seller's Description

This is a fixer upper and is priced appropriately. The boat is structurally sound and can be sailed. The saloon and galley in the cabin need to be refinished and will need someone who is willing to spend some time, effort, creativity, and the money needed to restore her inside. This would be a great boat for someone who is looking to pay less up front and to put money into the cabin over time to customize her to your preference.

Equipment: Galley and saloon: Both are stripped down to the fiberglass. The floor timbers and flooring were also reinforced and replaced. The other half of the floor in the saloon is in great shape because it was covered with a fiberglass mat. Skies the limit with whatever flooring you choose.

The bilge is in good shape but while renovating, could use a sanding and some bilge paint. The keel bolts look clean and shiny. No rust.

Oven and propane tank were removed for sanding and cleaning but are included and can easily but reinstalled when ready.

The V Berth: This area of the boat is pristine! No repairs or upgrades needed.

The Anchor locker is located forward of the V Berth and is easily accessed if needed through a teak door.

Walk Way: Contains a teak cold weather gear locker and drawers which are absolutely beautiful and in good working order.

The Head: We just had the thruhulls removed and resealed to be sure of no leaks. All good there. There is a cabinet behind the marine toilet, a sink, and the sink faucet detaches to double as a shower head. No repairs needed.

The deck: Great condition and no soft spots. The fiberglass deck also has a fiberglass core - which means no rotting wood to worry about.

Running Rigging: The sheets are still in good shape and the running rigging is sound but we had planned to slowly upgrade to Harken brand rigging after renovating the cabin. The components on the boat are Schaffer. There are two winches that are older but still work really well as well as two newer Lewmar self tailing winches. All in good working order!

Hull: The hull of the boat is also in good shape and the keel which also has a draft board can be dropped down, increasing draft to just under 7 feet if needed in deep water sailing or if you want to cruise in more shallow water, you can crank it up and reduce your draft to just under 5 feet. This is one of our favorite features of the boat! The packing gland was just replaced in the draft board to make sure there is no leaking.

The Engine: Yanmar Diesel Engine. It was professionally winterized last season and will be professionally serviced and winterized this season. The rudder was just serviced, packing glands replaced, no leaking or any issues here.

Extras: We just added a brand new professionally made custom dodger installed valued at 4200.00. The canvas is easily removed with quick zippers and snaps to attach and detach. It is made with Sunbrella which is durable, UV protected, and waterproof. We will also provide a full bottle of treatment spray for the canvas.

The Main and Jib Sails: Like new! They were also professionally inspected, cleaned, and repaired complete with new tell tales, lettering, and a black sun band on the jib to protect against the elements. Neither have been used since they were redone and are sparkly white, well stitched, and ready to go.

Electrical: All seems to work fine. If you want to be sure it is to standard, you would have to hire a Marine Electrician to inspect. We were planning to upgrade the lighting to LED.

Plumbing: The plumbing in the head looks good but the galley could use a better hose for the sink.

Refrigeration: The ice box is gigantic. We have never used it and were told that it works but needs to be charged.

Hot Water Heater: We assume it works but we have never used this either.

Calculations

Hull Speed
?

Hull Speed

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Formula

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

A more accurate formula devised by Dave Gerr in The Propeller Handbook replaces the Speed/Length ratio constant of 1.34 with a calculation based on the Displacement/Length ratio.

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio.311
Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area/Displacement
?

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

Formula

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64)2/3

  • SA: Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
  • D: Displacement in pounds.
?
<16: under powered
16-20: good performance
>20: high performance
Ballast/Displacement
?

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Formula

Ballast / Displacement * 100

?
<40: less stiff, less powerful
>40: stiffer, more powerful
Displacement/Length
?

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

Formula

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
  • LWL: Waterline length in feet
?
<100: ultralight
100-200: light
200-300: moderate
300-400: heavy
>400: very heavy
Comfort Ratio
?

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Formula

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam1.33)

  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
  • LWL: Waterline length in feet
  • LOA: Length overall in feet
  • Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet
?
<20: lightweight racing boat
20-30: coastal cruiser
30-40: moderate bluewater cruising boat
40-50: heavy bluewater boat
>50: extremely heavy bluewater boat
Capsize Screening
?

Capsize Screening Formula

This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.

Formula

CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64)

  • Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet
  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
?
<2: better suited for ocean passages
>2: better suited for coastal cruising
