2000 1D35 Hull #42

Seller's Description

2000 1D35 #42 “Wilde Agnes,” Turboed.

(A summary is below – please send a message for a full write-up with more photos.)

– Wilde Agnes is set up for PHRF, shorthanded, and coastal overnight racing. It is currently rigged and on its trailer in Portsmouth, RI, with spring projects underway.

– The turboed setup includes a fixed sprit with bobstay, square-top main, topmast backstays, and nearly masthead asymmetrical spinnakers. This makes the boat come alive even in light air – there’s plenty of power upwind, and you feel the acceleration when a puff hits downwind. In breeze, we hike hard upwind, and have a blast downwind.

– For overnight racing, the boat is light and spartan down below, but we added pipe berths, lee cloths, a single-burner Origo alcohol stove, and a McMurdo EPIRB. There is also a Dometic porta-potty that is plumbed as a head, with pumpout on deck. All interior lights work, and the instruments, GPS, and AIS all work well for racing at night.

– For shorthanded racing, the Raymarine EV 1000 tiller pilot receives wind information from the B&G H2000 instruments, and drives well on apparent wind. The control head works well positioned on the console in the middle of the cockpit. We also had one of our masthead A2s modified to be a fractional spinnaker. This allowed us to be rated with fractional spinnakers only (A2, A5, and Code 0), and to sail without needing the masthead running backstays.

– As is common with 1D35s, the hull core in Wilde Agnes needs to be monitored and maintained. We’ve been aggressive about this, with 2 rounds of core replacement where needed over the past three years. While a surveyor’s moisture meter will detect moisture, the hull is solid and doing well.

– The bottom, keel, and rudder are fair and smooth – having been stripped, barrier coated, and resprayed by International Marine before the 2020 season.

– The mast was repainted with Black Durepox before the 2022 season, and the standing rigging was renewed in 2021.

– There is an extensive sail inventory, including the square-top main, a new North Helix AP Jib, masthead and fractional spinnakers, and a Code 0.

– The Yanmar 2GM20F engine, and SD 20 Saildrive are working well.

– The electrical system includes two AGM batteries (2020), and new breakers (2021).

– Electronics include a B&G H2000 system with four displays on the mast and two FFD displays on the cabin, a Raymarine A65 chartplotter, B&G AIS transceiver, Icom VHF, the Raymarine EV 1000 tiller pilot, and basic Raymarine backup tiller pilot.

– The Triad trailer is in good shape, and has just passed state inspection. There is also a winter cover, set up for mast-up or mast-down use.
