Seller's Description

Custom Built Steel Cruising Sailboat, 38 ft in excellent condition. This boat was designed by Marcel Subrero for the previous owner. Marcel Subrero is well know for his steel cruising boat designs. The hull was welded at the famous Plataret ship yard in France, then the boat was finished in Geneva, Switzerland by some extremely talented craftsmen and engineers. The boat is excellently constructed. It was launched in 1988 in the French Mediterranean and cruised the world for 30 years before we bought it in Port Townsend, Washington in 2020.

We are in the final stages of a very extensive refit and for personal life reasons need to sell the boat. We are currently still painting and installing the last bits of interior. More photos of the interior will be following soon as we finish repainting/revarnishing the interior.

Boat Walkthrough:

Starting aft, large double quarter berth to starboard (over 6 foot 6 inches long), single quarter berth to port. Galley to port with refrigerator and double sink, full size chart table to starboard. Large L-shaped settee to port, linear settee to starboard. Forward of the settee to starboard is the Refleks heater. Forward of the salon on the port side is a spacious double Pullman berth (6 foot 6 inches long). Hanging locker and storage to starboard. The head and very large storage area (for sails etc.) is forward. Standing headroom in the Galley, Chart table, Salon area is 6’. Standing headroom further forward ranges from 5’ 9” to 5’10” due to the flush decks.

Equipment: All brand new Standing Rigging (1x19 stainless and Hayn Hi-Mod fittings/turnbuckles). New Sails (Top of line Schattauer Sails) New Bottom Job New Topside Paint Entire boat rewired with tinned Achor wire and cable. All new electronics and “Battleborn” Lithium Battery Bank (400 amp hours) Victron Multiplus II 2x120, 3000 Watts Victron Isolation Transformer All New Blue Sea distribution panels for both AC and DC Victron Blue Solar MPPT charge controller 75/15 All new top of mast instruments New Lifelines (Dyneema with Colligo terminators) Engine and exhaust serviced/rebuilt Large Alternator rebuilt New 11 Gal hot water heater New 47lb Sarca Excel primary anchor 35lb CQR secondary New Bilge pumps (2 high capacity Whale pumps) plus high volume manual pump. All new fresh water system Fully serviced SLCE Aquabase watermaker Pacific Windpilot self steering windvane in excellent condition. 180 Gallons diesel in keel 2 freshwater tanks (70 Gallons total) Brand new Refleks diesel heater and 5 Gallon day tank, keeps the boat toasty warm and dry even on the coldest days. Heater is gravity fed and uses no electricity. B&G Zeus2 Chartplotter and Hercules Autopilot. Extremely rugged autopilot mounted to the rudder shaft in the aft lazerette. Autopilot is not currently working (needs new computer.) There are two B&G Triton 2 displays in the cockpit. Furuno Radar: model 1623 Brand new Standard Horizon GX 1850 VHF Two Standard Horizon handheld VHF radios We had all new cushions for the salon and all the berths made by a custom marine upholstery shop in Port Townsend, WA. Huge amount of high quality spares and tools onboard. Huge amount of documentation for systems and maintenance procedures.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.
