The Irwin 37 is considered a handy boat to sail. The side decks are wide, the rail rises to a low bulwark forward to give a sense of security and the cockpit coaming has an opening to starboard but is low enough to climb out of anywhere.
The bowsprit is designed to carry a 30 lb plow anchor housed in a roller chock.
The interior offers space and layout is more seen in this model than performance is.
Livability is a good term to describe the design. The Irwin 37 is a coastal cruiser for two couples or a family of four. The vessel has a very practical aft cabin layout seen on a sailing vessel under 40ft.
The layout has remained essentially unchanged since the 37 was introduced and features a spacious aft cabin, a step-down galley, a more-than-adequate walk-through passageway, and a forward cabin that should not make its occupants feel like they are in steerage.
Available with keel centerboard and staysail ketch rig.
