Seller's Description

Michalak, Mayfly 16, 2005 sailboat for sale Built by me in 2005 Mayfly 16, designed by Jim Michalak, This is the prototype of that design. See Duckworks for a detailed description of this boat and its performance. One 91 sq ft balanced lug rigged sail, two rows of reef points. Sails are in good condition, have always been stored away from UV light, rigging includes lazy jacks so the sails do not drop on the deck when lowered. 15.5’ long by 5.5’ wide Empty weight 350 lbs, displacement weight 900 lbs Comes with tilt trailer which has lights mounted on the top of goal posts, bearings recently packed, lights work. No motor, but transom has a place for a small motor (2 to 4 hp), back up power is oars which are included and are 8’long and push the boat along nicely while you sit on a moveable thwart Accessories include cushions, anchor and rode, removable ballast in forward storage compartment, sailbag which holds the boom, yard, and sail, crutch fore and aft which hold the 14’ mast while in transit.

More details about this boat. This boat is in very good condition and is strongly built. I completed the Texas 200 in this boat without incident. The speed of this boat is faster than most on a reach and a run, but it does not point as high into the wind as some boats with more complex rigging. At a messabout with 20 boats, I was second to return from a rendezvous five miles from the ramp. The best features are easy of rigging, ease and comfort when sailing, ease of reefing, safety, and ease of coming into the shore. It has a kick-up lee board and rudder. With the lazy jacks deployed, you can douse the sail, not get hit in the head, then glide up to the shore as the rudder and lee board fold up when they touch bottom. You can easily carry two adult passengers. There is plenty of room in the forward and aft storage bins for camping gear. It is a safe boat that will float high if capsized, which I have never done in 20 years of use, sometimes in dangerous conditions. or phone 918-261-one-one-nine-two
