This Beneteau Oceanis 38 is as close to a new boat as you are likely to find. The Oceanis 38 has a modern hull design built for fast sailing and comfort. The boat is quick and heals to the chine. The dual rudders and helms make for comfortable sailing as you can be on whichever side of the boat that is most comfortable. The drop down transom allows easy access to the water, dock or tender. The Beneteau Oceanis 38 breaks new ground in the area of interior design. Like most of Beneteau’s recent designs, she has aggressive angular lines with a nearly plumb bow and a slightly reverse transom. The beam is carried well aft to a wide stern, and the boat’s twin rudders allow the hull to grip the water regardless of heel angle.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Number of heads: 1 Number of single berths: 4 Number of cabins: 3 The interior woodwork on this Oceanis 38 is the light, oak Alpi, which, along with the windows and hatches on the sides and the top of the coach roof and windows in the hull sides, make the interior very light and airy, with views of the water from anywhere in the boat. This is the 3- cabin version, with separate shower to port There are 2 aft staterooms; and the third stateroom forward. To starboard is the head and a separate shower room/wet locker to port. In the main part of the salon, the galley runs down the starboard side of the boat, with chart table, seating and dinette to port. She has the open floorplan and does not have the removable bulkhead for the forward berth. The boat is very open and airy.

DECK & HULL: The hull is molded in polyester, with a hull liner bonded in at the beginning of the assembly process to increase stiffness. The deck is injection molded with a Saerfoam core to increase strength and reduce weight, after which it is secured to the hull with adhesives and screws, and then ?trimmed? with a 1-inch toerail. The keel is cast iron. The rudder stocks are stainless steel. Twin helms open up the middle of the cockpit, and there is good access from the companionway all the way aft, where Beneteau?s signature hinged transom drops down into a formidable swim platform that seems to add another dimension to the deck plan. The side decks are wide and easy to maneuver on, and there are good handholds on the cabintop.
