Seller's Description

Lumos is a 1988 Bayfield 36. She has been lovingly cared for through her many years of travel up and down the east coast, which included many upgrades along the way. We purchased her in 2020 and have sailed her from the Chesapeake to the Bahamas and Keys every winter and back up until this past winter. Our family has grown and our needs have changed, sadly its time to sell her.

Details: -Water Tank - 100 gallons (Aluminum) -Fuel Tank - 43 gallons (Stainless Steel)

Engine: -Yanmar 4HJE 44HP - 2300 hrs -Rebuilt in 2001 and runs perfect. We have performed all routine maintenance and have had zero problems. Starts right up every time, not a drop of oil under it. -Cleaned and rebuilt racor filter 2022 -New fuel lines 2022 -Rebuilt heat exchanger (preventative/explorative, engine never overheated) 2022 -Has 100 Amp Alternator with Balmar Voltage Regulator

Sails & Rigging & Canvas: -Mainsail Dacron Fully Battened and in great shape (2017 but has many years left) -Jib/Yankee Dacron Furling Yankee, with high aspect ratio for flying both Yankee and Staysail. (2019, but also in great shape with many years left) -Dacron Staysail Furling Staysail (2020 in perfect shape) -Gennaker in a sock and was seldomly used by prior owners and myself (in excellent shape) -All Standing Rigging & Chainplates replaced in 2020 (Sta-loc) -Lazy Jacks with Mack pack on mainsail in great shape with zipper assist line (sprayed with waterproofing / life extender annually) -3rd reef added to mainsail 2020 -New Raymarine anemometer 2020 -Have rebuilt all cockpit winches and 2 mast winches since purchase. -Dinghy Davit system off stern -Dodger & Bimini with connector panel and full enclosure -Dodger glass replace 2022 to polycarbonate (thicker and more clear) -Dodger Side panel strataglass replaced 2022 -1 enclosure side panel replaced 2022 -Canvas also treated for waterproofing and UV protection annually

Electronics: -Garmin GPS Map 740s with explorer charts (best for Bahamas) with AIS overlay -Speed / Depth shows on chartplotter -Standard Horizon GX2200 with AIS receive with Remote Mic in cockpit -Raymarine type 2 linear drive below deck autopilot with ST70 control head -Raymarine MN 100-2 Anemometer 2021 -Boss Stereo with speakers in cabin and cockpit -12v TV

Galley: -Origo 6000 Stove with oven (burns Denatured Alcohol which can be found in any hardware store) works wonderfully and is incredibly safe and simple to use -12v Fridge with small Freezer -Microwave -Hot / Cold Water -6 Gallon Hot Water Heater (110v or engine heated) -Salt Water pump

Head: -2020 replaced traditional system with Natures Head composting head (we love this system, have had it on prior boats and plan to add it to our next boat) -Removed black water tank system, freeing up significant storage space in upper bilge -Separate Shower with overboard pump

Plumbing: -Hot & Cold water with pressure pump -6 gallon hot water heater, runs on both 110v or engine -Cockpit shower -Washdown pump in anchor locker

The Bayfield 36 is a Canadian built, full keeled cruiser with traditional teak styling designed by Hayden Gozzard. Production started in 1985 and ran until the factory in Clinton, Ontario burned down in 1988. She is a unique combination of new and old thinking with her clipper bow, trailboards, and teak combings combined with an aluminium toerail and beamy interior. This is a “big” 36-footer, and owners love her as much for her good looks as for her amazingly spacious accommodations. Performance-wise she will not win you any races but when in a blow you will enjoy her heavy displacement, full keeled underbody. Handholds are wherever you need them.

The construction is solid glass with molded inserts to create the interior substructure while the deck is balsa cored. Chainplates tie into bulkheads or special stubs tied into the hull. The mast is keel stepped while the internal ballast is 6,500 pounds of lead. The fuel tankage is aluminium with 45 gallons capacity while the water and holding tanks are plastic. Her accommodations include two cabins, a head with tub, and spacious salon. Some versions have a fixed salon table while others have a table that folds down from the main bulkhead. Here is where the Bayfield shines with the spaciousness of a much larger yacht. In fact it is mystery how they packed the proverbial 10 pounds in 1 pound sack. Her engine was a Yanmar 4 JHE 44 HP which is still in many. Access is beneath the companionway and through the starboard cockpit bench.

Buyers Notes

The aluminium fuel tank is prone to corrosion. It sits just forward the companionway inserts deep into the bilge. The original stove used butane gas which is difficult to find and refill in the USA. Originally specifications listed 4′ 11″ as the draft. Actual drafts are around 5′ 9″ due to overbuilding and cruising weight. Exterior storage is limited with no lazzarettes or anchor locker.
