Seller's Description

**OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A GREAT WOODEN SAILING KETCH WITH LOT’S OF HISTORY*****

This 1964 Colvin Bugeye was designed by Thomas Colvin & built by Ray Kuafman & friends @ Colvin Manufacturing in Mathews, Va. in 1964. Mr Kaufman was an MIT educated Naval Architect from Williamsburg, Va who circumnavigated the globe in a 45ft ketch named HURRICANE & wrote a book called “Hurricane’s Wake” in 1942.

This beautiful Colvin Bugeye has weathered 7 hurricanes, 5 Nor’easters, & 3 tornados. She has been extremely well maintained & extensively upgraded over the last 29yrs of my ownership. She has sailed from Rockport, Maine to Red Bank, New Jersey to Yorktown, Va. as well as several trips up & down the Chesapeake Bay. She has also been featured in Yachting Magazine & Wooden Boat Magazine as well as local newspapers.

This Colvin is known locally as a resident “Pirate Ship” under the flag of “Calico Jack”. The owner participated in dozens of pirate festivals in Hampton & Yorktown, Va. Also period re-enactments & pirate raids, sea battles & tea parties.

A statement from the current owner: “I am the 4th owner in This vessel’s 57-year history. The 3 previous owners combined for the first 28 years. I have owned her for the past 29 years. I have a lot of interesting history with this boat.”
