By far the most enjoyable way to avoid Covid-19 is on an off-grid sailboat in the islands.
Overview: Lions Paw is a 35 1963 Allied Seabreeze. Shes been beautifully restored, modernized and is turn-key ready. This past season she was cruised extensively throughout Florida and the Bahamas and is ready to go again. She is outfitted to comfortably sustain over a month at sea without needing to return to port. If desired, the purchase includes one week of free cruising lessons, taught by her owner (US Sailing certified instructor and former Director of the Middle Key Sailing Program). Possible topics include voyage planning, safe anchoring, basic engine maintenance, electrical repair, and how to catch dinner etc
Toys, Specs and Gear: After 10 years of cruising we are moving north to start a family and be land lubbers for a while. As such we are selling Lions Paw fully stocked with all the gear, spare parts and toys needed to set sail for the islands tomorrow. This includes a complete offshore fishing setup, diving gear, dinghy/motor, paddleboard, lobstering equipment, portable 10,000 BTU air conditioner, as well as many others.
Specs: Designed after the famous centerboard racer Finisterre she is fast as well as comfortable. Her shallow draft (3 feet), opens a vast array of cruising grounds not accessible to deep-draft vessels, perfect for the shallow waters of Florida and the islands. Her hull is solid fiberglass and she has a full keel, which provides protection to the rudder and propeller. With her solid bronze centerboard fully extended she drafts 7 feet, which provides safety and stability offshore. The first fiberglass yacht to circumnavigate the globe was an Allied. They are well respected Bluewater yachts and can be found actively cruising all around the globe.
Equipment: Gear/Upgrades:
She is fully energy independent with a 500-watt solar array, intelligent AirBreeze wind generator and enlarged deep-cycle battery bank. Shes powered by a reliable and efficient 20 hp Yanmar diesel connected to a 30-gallon Monel fuel tank. She carries over 100 gallons of freshwater with a 12-volt Katadyn Water-maker (and two spare backup units). The galley was remodeled to include a modern fridge/freezer, tile countertops, microwave, new cabinetry, a two-burner propane stove (there is also a large 12-volt chest freezer installed in the lazarette). The cabin is lined with teak and mahogany, has 4 full-sized bunks, fold out dining table and a queen-sized bed in the master v-berth. The bathroom was fully remodeled with a mosaic floor, custom porcelain sink, and hot water shower. Her working sails are in excellent condition, she also comes with a spare mainsail and heavy weather genoa. All exterior canvas, standing rigging, chain plates and steering cables were replaced in 2018! She has been an amazing boat and carried us through some incredible adventures. She deserves a new owner who will continue to cherish her as much as we have. The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL
A more accurate formula devised by Dave Gerr in The Propeller Handbook replaces the Speed/Length ratio constant of 1.34 with a calculation based on the Displacement/Length ratio.
Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio.311
Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL
A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.
SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64)2/3
A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.
Ballast / Displacement * 100
A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.
D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³
This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.
Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam1.33)
This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.
CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64)
The SEABREEZE 35 was the second yacht built by Allied Boat Co.. It was available as a sloop or yawl. Boats before 1967 have a bronze centerboard. After that, aluminum was used. (Disp. and ballast numbers vary significantly.)
The SEABREEZE CITATION was introduced in 1970 that featured a longer coach roof, dinette, two door head compartment, and a slightly longer cockpit. The rudder profile was also changed slightly.
