“Bateau Soleil” is a three cabin Owner’s Version with A/C, water maker, solar and wind power (no generator). The unique configuration of the salon area with open sides allow for viewing from either hull to interact the guests at the settee area. The Gemini Catamarans are the most successful cruising catamaran ever built! Here’s why:
Shallow draft allows for more anchoring & beach options (2 feet 10 inches)
Beam fits standard size slips and standard size travel lift
Has more interior volume compared most 40 ft. monohulls at the same price
Fast, level sailing with virtually no heeling
Easy maneuverability with duel 15 hp. Yanmar engines
All lines lead to the cockpit within reach
Curvaceous cockpit design for entertaining
Pilot house windows for dramatic views in the salon
Mainsheet traveler located out of the way on the hard bimini
“Cut out” stern for accessibility while side tied
A compact coaster cruising catamaran with an excellent value and one of the lowest priced Geminis on the market today. The hard sailing is complete as she is already located in Grenada and ready to discover the Caribbean blue waters and picturesque tropical anchorages this area has to offer.
A great way to start living the dream!
Please note: This boat was in Hurricane Irma which is reflected in the price. NEVER submerged or any hull penetration. Most repairs include upgrades.Ask for more details. Great boat at a great price!

Special Features
There are very few Gemini’s in the Caribbean, especially down island. Good downwind boats, so great location to sail back to the USA from here and save the windward beat! Ideal Bahama shallow draft boat on the sail up! Great price on the least expensive current Gemini Legacy listing worldwide and probably the least expensive late model Catamaran for sale in the Eastern Caribbean w/ lots of brand-new cruising upgrades!
Accidents and Mishaps
Please see refit section above. Above the above, some minor gelcoat dings and scratches (from Irma), no davits, small bend in bow roller, small (2 in) crack in main cabin plywood bulkhead (appeared recently when banging into the wind to Guadeloupe). Couple of minor bits of window damage that were not serious enough to bother fixing. New (2018) AM/FM/BT radio has never been installed or tested, but should be fine once the right connectors are acquired.
The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.
Classic hull speed formula:
Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL
A more accurate formula devised by Dave Gerr in The Propeller Handbook replaces the Speed/Length ratio constant of 1.34 with a calculation based on the Displacement/Length ratio.
Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio.311
Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL
A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.
SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64)2/3
A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.
Ballast / Displacement * 100
A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.
D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³
This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.
Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam1.33)
This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.
CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64)
The GEMINI 3400 was the predecessor to the GEMINI 105 and the first in the series to have molded transom steps. A new kick-up rudder system was developed for the new transom design. Like all Gemini models the 3400 has kick-up centerboards which are housed in low aspect ratio fixed keels which serve as protection for the under-slung rudders from damage when grounding.
