George Hinterhoeller, a co-founder of C&C Yachts, took a number of former C&C employees, and started his own firm at St-Catherines, Ontario in 1977. The 62,000 sq. ft. plant was designed especially for boat-building. During it’s period of operation, the firm engaged the design talents of Mark Ellis for the more cruising oriented NIAGARA 35, 26, 30, 36 and 22. German Frers was commissioned to design the more racing oriented NIAGARA 31 and F-3. In 1986, Hinterhoeller transferred production of a number of his boats to Halman Manufacturing Company in Beamsville, Ontario. The Hinterhoeller trademark lost its legal protection as of 1998. Hinterhoeller is also known as a designer in his own right. Perhaps the most sucessful of his creations was the SHARK 24.
