Mechanically excellent, turn key cruiser.
This beautiful, classic well engineered and constructed, Pearson 39-2 has served as a Chesapeake Bay cruiser and part time live aboard. This is the perfect Chesapeake Bay, New England or Caribbean boat. The owner is a maritime professional who has diligently maintained the boat; it is ready to go just about anywhere in comfort and style. She is sailed frequently with friends and family.
She was built in Portsmouth, RI in 1988.
The boat is very reliable and easily operated by 1 or 2 people. Huge main winches make trimming sails easy. Centerboard allows for great upwind tracking or shallow water exploration, and is very easy to raise and lower. All lines lead back to the cockpit. Mack Pack Lazy Jacks and Harken roller furling make deploying, reefing and stowing sails easy. Great deck layout allows for safe, easy movement around the topsides.
Her cabin is what really sells the boat. This boats beam is huge and it carries down below. The interior has beautiful cherry and teak cabinetry in great condition and a ton of storage for living aboard or taking trips. The cabin is spacious, comfortable and beautiful. Two private cabins make this boat ideal for a family or 2 couples to get away. The salon is very spacious and light and the table/ settees can comfortably seat 6-7 adults with table leaves up.
12,000 BTU reverse cycle A/C new in 2018 keeps the boat warm in the winter and cool in the summer while at the dock. Numerous ports keep fresh air flowing through all of the spaces.
A wonderful navigation station/ desk with additional electronics, storage and an innovative swing-out seat for planning trips, setting up laptop, doing work, etc.
All lighting throughout the boat, and it is numerous, is LED.
The galley is huge and 2 can work side-by-side. Huge refer, stainless sink with drainboard and faucet, salt and fresh water pumps, hot water heater, 2-burner Force 10 stove, outlets for appliances, etc.

The head is very large for this size boat and includes a separate shower with a wet locker.

Full set - Bimini, dodger, connector, pedestal cover and Bimini cover all in great condition.
Mack main and Genoa inspected in great condition.

Engine and drivetrain:
Yanmar 3HM35F always cleaned and maintained in excellent running condition and located under the galley for easy servicing and ideal weight distribution. (Most boats place the engine under the cabin companionway, which is quite aft). Always freshwater flushed and laid-up when not in use.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL
A more accurate formula devised by Dave Gerr in The Propeller Handbook replaces the Speed/Length ratio constant of 1.34 with a calculation based on the Displacement/Length ratio.
Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio.311
Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL
A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.
SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64)2/3
A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.
Ballast / Displacement * 100
A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.
D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³
This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.
Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam1.33)
This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.
