Designer and entrepreneur, Marion Excoffon, 34 years old, is a ENSCI - Les Ateliers graduate, a prestigious design school in Paris. She explores the world of everyday objects to reveal by her design what she likes to call the «evidence of the irrational». Experimenting with materials is a core component of her design process.
In 2010, she designed her first boat to challenge her father who didn’t want to lend her his boat.
Many sailing lovers dream about having their own sailboat, but that comes with many constraints: storage, transportation, maintenance, access to a launching ramp… My first boat was born from a desire to make leisure sailing accessible to most sailors and to focus on pure pleasure. My challenge was to design a good performance sailboat that would be easily transportable, user-friendly.
In 2012, she co-founds the company TIWAL to industrialize this inflatable sailboat (TIWAL 3). TIWAL is now a concept, design and industrialization company for innovative inflatable sporting goods. Its team of 9 people is based in Brittany, France. The TIWAL 2 inflatable sailboat is the latest design.
