Seller's Description

“The nicest Carrera 290 on the planet” as quoted by Sailing Anarchy in July, 2014, was completed in 2001 by Casey Yacht Enterprises after they purchased the original Carrera 290 molds. Compared to earlier hulls, Casey widened the cockpit, moved the traveler aft and gave her a higher aspect rig. In 2013 Element Boat Works refurbished her and was featured on their website. The previous owners purchased this like-new super-fast, sport sail boat in 2015 from its second owner in California. They sailed her on fresh water inland lakes during the summer months and kept her in covered storage during the winter. Current owners sailed her for one summer on Georgian Bay, currently stored indoors.

Prior modifications include: in 2013, the rig was replaced with a Forte RTS carbon fiber mast, boom, spreaders, bow sprit and Prolite fiber shrouds. A carbon rudder, post, tiller and extension round out the carbon features. The renovations included new LP Topsides and deck, new epoxy hull deck joint, new nonskid, custom motor mount, new stanchions canted outward to allow for better hiking, pulpit to accommodate downward sloping life lines, and much more.The result being a considerably improved deck layout and asthetics compared to the original 290 design.

Loaded with racing features and a suite of sails, she is ready to go again. She is a head turner with a Southern California PHRF 69,63,51 rating.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Unlike earlier Carreras, she has a deep pocket reinforced large keel trunk and a 1350 lb lead bulb, drawing just less than 6 ft, draft. The interior is spartan but has a V-berth with full cushions, two aft “pipe” berths, oak table top with mahogany side rails to keep things from sliding off and a port-a-potty. Dry storage for small items and a cooler (tied down) which doubles as companion way step.

Included are a rope boarding ladder, 12V system (Tacktick compass, remote and wireless NMEA interface, speed/depth transducer, Garmin GPSmap 182c GPS, navigation/running lights, cabin lights, DC outlet on interior fused panel), dock lines, fenders, lightweight aluminum Fortress FX-7 anchor with chain/rope rode. Uniden Solara DSC VHF with compact antenna on back rail.

SAILS/RIGGING

The carbon fiber rig (mast, boom, and spreaders) comes with two forestays. A stainless-steel rod forestay for racing with hank-on head sails, and a compact-strand wire with custom CDI roller furler for cruising. Spinlock clutches for halyards, and sprit tackline.
