Overview

From PDQ Website: (www.pdqyachts.com) Fall 87 - A passion for perfection, a love of the creative process and a drive to build great boats brought three extraordinary men together to build the first PDQ Yacht. These three men were Dr. Harvey Griggs, MIT graduate in structural engineering and the man who commissioned the first yacht, Alan Slater, chief engineer and steadfast believer in catamarans, and Simon Slater, Alan’s son, creator of the deck design, and the brawn behind the construction. With no preconceived notions, no historical baggage and few market constraints, the first 34-foot fiberglass cat was built using a combination of molds and flat panel construction as well as solid engineering competency. Summer 88 - The first boat was such a great success at the Annapolis Boat Show, selling before the show was over, that they decided to take it into production. To do that, they moved to the Charles St. facility, a factory that was formerly owned by Whitby Boat Works. The PDQ sailboat division was taken over by Antares Yachts in 2003. Antares sells one model (ANTARES 44)(2008). PDQ Yachts Inc. 202 South Blair St., #1-6 Whitby, Ontario L1N 8X9, Canada Toll-free (888) 297-CATS (297-2287) (905) 430-2582 Fax (905) 430-8306
