This Formosa 47 (LOA 54) is located in Gloucester MA.
Named Tatanka, Native American for Buffalo, a most revered animal in Native American culture. It’s a fitting name for this robust Taiwanese vessel, suitable for sailing around the world - which is exactly what the previous owner did. A complete circumnavigation.
The materials below reflect the thought that went into the design of this Formosa 47, with warm, carefully built cabinetry, drawers and teak and holly sole below, with an eye for detail. This will make a great blue water cruiser, live aboard, or perhaps a great charter vessel.
She has been covered and on the hard for more than 10 years, but sold to the current owners 2 years ago after engine, generator and all systems were checked out.
In those past 2 years the new owners had a number of upgrades performed, planning to do some extensive cruising. Health issues have changed their plans, and this wonderful blue water yacht is back on the market.

A more accurate formula devised by Dave Gerr in The Propeller Handbook replaces the Speed/Length ratio constant of 1.34 with a calculation based on the Displacement/Length ratio.

Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL
