Seller's Description

Go to Sailing Texas classifieds for current sailboats for sale Nimble 24 Tropical Yawl, 1994 sailboat for sale Satellite Beach, Florida.

This is the keel/centerboard version that only draws 1’ 4” allowing for true “gunkholing” in Florida’s skinny waters and beaching on small islands. Adventure!

Below

Great layout with berthing for 4. Plenty of teak below with 6 opening bronze portholes and a large hatch over the vberth for extra ventilation and light. Galley sink and bronze hand-pump. 12-gallon water tank resides under the port counter and is offset with batteries under the starboard counter. Saloon dining table, sets up and stows easily. Cushions are comfortable and in good shape. Porta-potty in head cubby with privacy curtain and ventilation. Beautiful and removeable teak companionway doors (with fixed bronze ports) which are much more convenient than common crib boards.

Cockpit

The cockpit is deep and well protected with high combings that provide very comfortable seating and security for smaller (and/or hairy) crew members. Long enough for adult crew to stretch out and enjoy the stars. The swing keel line is handily located below the companionway and dose not require a winch.

On Deck

Mast in tabernacle, raised and lowered with A frame. Boat has bow and very rare (for Nimble) pushpit, upon which is mounted a 50 watt solar panel which feeds 2- 75AH 6v batteries. This mounting allows the panel to be out of the way and protected from foot traffic and docks, etc, with generally unobstructed exposure to the sun. Good winches, blocks, lines, anchors and rode. Custom made mount for the Raymarine autopilot. Construction note: deck is foam cored, not balsa.

Rig

Good tanbark sails: 2 Masthead genoas with CDI rolling furler. Mainsail. Nearly new mizzen sail. Halyards and vang falls led to cockpit. An easy boat to single-hand. Lazy jacks rigged. Set up for single line reefing. Standing and running rigging in good condition.

Engine

9.9 hp 4 stroke Yamaha (extra long, high thrust), with generator and electric start resides in a well at the aft end of cockpit, so no leaning off the back of the boat fiddling with the outboard. The outboard cover serves as a cockpit table.

Hull:

The sharpie hull with soft chine allows for a stiff boat, which remains more upright without much heel when under sail. The long waterline combined with the hull shape provides for a very pleasant motion, much smoother in short period waves than modern designed hulls. A short stub keel with centerboard and the modified rudder provide lateral resistance and allow the boat to have a very short draft. This makes launching and recovery at shallow water boat ramps easy, keeping the tow vehicle off slippery ramps and not requiring any special equipment. The shallow draft provided by the sharpie hull allows the boat to be beached or anchored where almost no other 28-foot sailboat can even get close to.

Privacy!

And contrary the opinions of the uninitiated, the sharpy hull does not “slap” when sailing into the wind! The original “barndoor” rudder was modified to be balanced as the original configuration caused excessive weather helm. With this modification the boat can be balanced to sail without a hand on the tiller. The SS tubing loop has been reinforced at the tiller attachment tabs.

Trailer

The dual axle, galvanized trailer is road worthy with working surge brakes lights and serviceable tires. The trailer is equipped with guide ons. Wide tie down straps are included. Can easily be towed with a moderate SUV or pickup.

Specs:

LOA: 28 ft. LWL: 24 ft. Beam: 8.25 ft. Draft: 1 ft 4 in centerboard up, 3 ft with centerboard down Weight: 3,000 lbs. Price: $7,500
