1967 Pearson Ensign Hull 1276

This boat is in great shape and has been utilized for Adult sailing lessons by a local Sailing CLub. Boat was often raced in local PHRF events to great success by students.

Boat is Stored inside of a shed for 2020/2021 season and is not able to move out until Spring. Boat can be seen by appointment.

Price is turn key. We will deliver boat with fresh paint, varnish, trailer serviced etc. Happy to facilitate additional work as well.

Equipment: Trailer: North Lander Single Axle Painted Steel four hull stands and a bow stop/winch post

Outboard: 2018 Honda BF2.3 Pushes boat between 4 and 4.5 knots through the water.

The brackett is a really cool Bronze hinged mount that is easily removed for racing in conjunction with the light weight outboard.

Standing Rigging: All New stays, shrouds, and turn buckles in 2019 from Ensign Spars

Running Rigging is all in good shape and is mostly NER ULS Double braids. dedicated Head Sail sheets, and Spinnaker Sheets with Shackles, Main Halyard, Jib Halyard, Spinnaker Halyard all replaced between 2015 and 2018 Sails: Main: 5 out of 10 age unknown. Modified with a single Reef and Luff Slugs. Sail recently service/ repaired

3 2015 98% Working Jib by North Sails. Sail is in good shape and works very well.

2 2016 140% Genoa by North. Great all purpose Genoa.

1 Age Unknnown apx 150% Light Air Genoa. Sail is very tired.

4 Blade Jib 70% Very old and tired but still works for when things get into the 20s and 30s.

AP symmetrical Spinnaker. Older Cross cut sail.

Notes

In 1959 Carl Alberg was commissioned by Pearson Yachts to design a 22-foot cruiser suitable for racing in the Midget Ocean Racing Club (MORC). This was the ELECTRA, which had a masthead rig, a small, self-bailing cockpit, and a cabin with galley space, head and bunks. About 350 ELECTRAS were built over the next six years.

Pearson dealers surmised that prospective Electra buyers might prefer the boat with a larger cockpit and smaller cabin. They passed the information along to Pearson, who subsequently asked Alberg to design a day sailor, suitable for one-design racing, based on the ELECTRA hull.

Other changes made included moving the mast six inches s forward, increasing the area of the mainsail, and reducing the height of the fore triangle.

The ELECTRA DAY SAILOR, as it was first called, was an instant success: 219 were sold in the first year (1962). At this time, the first class racing was organized (Fleet #l, out of Larchmont, New York).

The next year saw 213 more boats built and nine more fleets formed - in Houston, Texas; Hingham, Massachusetts; Providence, Rhode Island; Huntington and Port Washington, New York, Miami, Florida; Gibson Island, Maryland; and Falmouth, Maine.
The last known builder (2003) was Ensign Spars Inc. of Dunedin, FL (USA).
