Lots more details:

The Argonauta is a unique folding, comfortable trimaran suitable for a vacation cruise for a couple or small family. This unusual vessel deserves your careful consideration. This one is a 1992 and probably in the best shape of any Argonauta’s around.

The aft cabin gives unobstructed space with a full sized double bed (4’6” x 6’4”) located away from onrushing water forward, making it quiet when under way. Also the access to the tramps is adjacent to the cockpit where crew weight is properly centered.

There is a VHF radio, an am/fm radio with CD changer and GPS in an instrument cluster on one side and some shelves and storage nooks just inside the cabin door. Steering is via a ships wheel in the cockpit, but can also be steered in the cabin as well and a Simrad TP10 Tillerpilot can provide autopilot services if you want to just relax and ride on the trampolines. The boat can be piloted from the cockpit or from inside the cabin. If on a long reach, you can use the autopilot and stay out of inclement weather and view the seas through the forward facing cabin door window. Radio, GPS and lit compass are all it the cabin to assist.

The outriggers swing aft in folding, It is possible to fold them in to fit the boat in a standard slip when the boat is left in a marina. The sharp entryway reduces spray at high speeds. The bow has a cuddy cabin that can act a s dry locker for sails and rope, or could be converted to a single berth In it’s current configuration, it is storage and porta potty station, and anchor and chain locker. (access is from the cockpit just behind the windshield). Optionally the porta potty can be placed in the Main Cabin. There is good headroom in the cabin, and a memory foam queen size berth.

Outriggers are symmetrical (22’ feet long). Their slippery, rounded shapes and V’d bottom provide easy motion in a seaway and smooth plunging through chop and waves at high speed. Each has watertight compartments plus foam buoyancy.

Folding and deploying the outriggers is a one person job and the folded beam has a legal width for trailering. The trampolines are in good condition. A electric winch and an a-frame gin pole are built in to make for easy single handed stepping of the mast. The A-frame converts to a handy bow rail when under way.

The hull & deck are a sandwiched construction with bi-directional fiberglass and closed cell PVC core of 4.5 lb. density, reinforced in special areas as necessary with unidirectional glass fibers (Kevlar & Epoxy), folding fiberglass cross arms on which pivot fiberglass outriggers with three flotation chambers.

Auxillary power is provided by a Torqeedo Electric outboard mounted amidships where it can raised, and lowered without moving from the cockpit. Two large optima battery’s are provided to deliver 24v power for the motor, and the motor is microproccesor controlled with its own built in GPS which provides speed readings and wattage used and range info to monitor the battery condition. This power setup is clean and quiet and can push her along over 6mph. 12 volt power comes from an additional Optima battery, and a 600 watt marine wind turbine will be included, although it still needs to be mounted on the boat. more information on the Torqeedo is available at: Torqeedo

Deploying the boat from the trailer to the water and ready to sail takes about 1/2 hour. The boat is not starved for sail power like much of the competition, yet you can leave both sails up well into white cap conditions.

She is driven well in light conditions too. The boat is very easy to sail. The wheel steering in the cockpit, sail controls, daggerboard controls and auxiliary power are in easy reach of the skipper. She is easy to trailer and vey stable in high winds.

The included trailer is custom made for the boat, includes a electric winch and makes launching and retrieve it a breeze and can be done single handed.

Also included is a windscreen for those choppy days, and a Bimini top that can actually be used when underway.

I have really enjoyed her, she is sharp looking boat and is sure to turn some heads and get a lot comments and questions every time I take her out. It is a very solid boat, yet light weight due to the sandwich foam composite construction.

This boat includes a boat cover, spare sails, anchors and hardware. .

I have bought a larger boat, so I must sell her, and will be sad to see her go.
